Something Wonderful is Coming to Logansport Indiana

Just like this blog, the historic Greensfelder building is once again under construction. Soon it will be home to something truly wonderful, a place of knowledge, whimsy, and adventure. An independent bookstore is coming soon to Logansport Indiana. Please check back to see the progress of  the building's revitalization as I take an empty shell of a building and make it into Some Kind of Wonderful.

  7. Kitty! I want to come shop! And I have a contact for you - Crissy Nettles in Monroeville, Alabama, who 3 years ago renovated a building and opened Beehive Coffee & Books. Emphasis on the coffee... she says it's what sustains her book business. Look for her store page on Facebook - I bet she'd have some great tips for you! CONGRATULATIONS!!

  13. Welcome to Logansport! I'm so excited to hear about your vision for this wonderful building in our downtown. I recently opened "Savanah Vintage", an antiques & art boutique in an 1887 Victorian home just a couple of blocks from the Greensfelder Building. Can't wait to meet you. Stop in soon and see me at 218 Eel River in the Bankers Row Historic District. Teri Hawes

  15. Thank you for all the wonderful comments. I just received the keys yesterday! (Little happy dance!) And my coffee samples came in the mail as well. My house smells so rich and full of flavor right now. I wish I had smell-o-vision so I could share it.
The construction will start soon. I will be posting some "before pics" soon, too. Just waiting for them to be sent to me!

  16. Yay!!! I cannot wait to see this bookstore. I am an avid reader and when Walden's closed down I had to rely on Wal-Mart. But Wal-Mart does not always get in the kind of books I like. I was hoping that in the future to do something of this sort once I completed my degree at Ivy Tech but I'm glad that someone is doing this now.

  18. I'm really excited about having our own bookstore. It's a pain to have to go out of town everytime you need a book. Logansport needs this in the worst way. loganskid and I will haunt the place. Really!

  20. Hi,

Heard about this from my wife a couple of days ago.Very excited! I read a lot,(mostly out-of-print horror paperbacks and magazines),but love the idea of having someplace new to go downtown, instead of having to take myself to Kokomo, or pay Amazon's ridiculous shipping prices every time I want to read something.

I hope you will eventually sell Blu-Ray/DVDs,as Wal-mart is Cass County's only resource. Some of the less-mainstream titles would be stellar. Film magazines, (like Fangoria/Rue Morgue)would also be on my wish list. Can't wait to see this come to fruition.

However you choose to do it, it'll be great.

    Chris

  22. Marie, I can't believe you're coming to Logansport with a bookstore! This is what we've been needing since Waldenbooks was forced to leave town, and what's better is that this isn't going to be on the east side of town but rather downtown! I can only hope SKOW will attract more businesses along Market and Broadway and fill up those empty store fronts and lots.

As a fellow author (still in training, though), welcome and good luck in your endeavors! I'll definitely be stopping by several times a week once the doors are open! :)
